A new Christiania movie release on 29th of February. The PAPER WAR is the third of the serie filmed and produced by Jørn Balther who followed the everyday life in Christiania with his Camera for the last couple of years. In his movies he puts a light upon the methods how the authorities act in their treatment to get Christiania to bend for their demands, the normalization of Christiania.
The Paper War trailer is cut from a 50 min. film portraying everyday life in Christiania in a difficult time where the state is trying to privatize this community.
The state and the police put an unprecedented pressure on residents, visitors and businesses.Towards the
public it is called a normalization process but for the citizens and guests of Christiania it feels more or less like police state methods.
This most certainly brings a question forward; does Denmark have two set of rules a so-called
double-standard regarding law and order, freedom of speech, labor protection, human/children's right and the right to be and walk about.
J. Balthers movies show a systemcritical portrait of daily Denmark focusing on democracy and legal rights as practised in Christiania
These and other issues are a part of everyday life in Christiania as shown in the movies.
The music is composed and performed by Alex Choub.
